• Gender selection — stored temporarily in your browser session only, not on our servers
• Contact form submissions — email address and message content, used solely to respond to your enquiry

Information Collected Automatically

• Standard web server logs: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited, date/time of visit
• Aggregated, anonymised usage data via analytics (no personal identifiers attached)
• Device type and screen resolution (for optimising tool display)

2. How the Tool Works — Privacy Architecture

All face shape calculations happen entirely in your browser. This is a fundamental design principle, not a marketing claim.

When you enter measurements or upload a photo, that data never leaves your device. The calculation engine (our JavaScript code) runs locally. No measurement values, no photo files, and no facial analysis results are transmitted to our servers at any point.

3. Photos & Camera Data

When you use the Photo Upload or Selfie Mode features:

• Photos are read using the browser’s FileReader API and processed in-memory using JavaScript Canvas — entirely on your device
• Captured selfie images are rendered to an HTML canvas element locally — not transmitted anywhere
• No image file is ever uploaded to any server operated by OblongFaceShape.com or any third party
• Camera access (getUserMedia API) is requested only when you click “Start Camera” — you can deny it at any time via browser permissions without affecting the measurement mode
• When you leave the page or close the tab, all image data is discarded from browser memory

If AI photo analysis is integrated on your instance of the tool, this is disclosed at the point of use and governed by Anthropic’s Privacy Policy. In the standalone/WordPress deployment, the canvas fallback runs entirely locally.

4. Cookies & Analytics

OblongFaceShape.com may use the following cookies:

Strictly Necessary

• Session cookies required for basic site functionality (no personal data stored)

Analytics (Optional)

• We may use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, or alternatives like Plausible/Fathom) to understand aggregate traffic patterns
• Analytics do not receive your measurement data, photo files, or face shape results
• You can opt out of analytics tracking via your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting or by using an ad blocker

No Advertising Cookies

• We do not set advertising or behavioural tracking cookies. We do not sell or share user data with advertising networks.

5. Third-Party Services

OblongFaceShape.com uses a limited number of third-party services:

• Google Fonts — typography loaded from Google’s CDN. Google may log the request. See Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy
• Web hosting provider — standard server logs are maintained per their terms
• WhatsApp (support contact) — if you contact us via WhatsApp, your conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy

We do not embed social media tracking pixels, advertising networks, or cross-site tracking technologies.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes. Information is shared only in these limited circumstances:

• When required by law, valid legal process, or regulatory authority
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of OblongFaceShape.com, our users, or the public

Despite these measures, no Internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We encourage users to exercise caution online.

9. Children’s Privacy

OblongFaceShape.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our site, contact us at support@oblongfaceshape.com and we will promptly delete it.

The face shape calculator is a general-purpose styling tool appropriate for all ages. The content on our site is general styling information with no age restrictions.
